seventh-graders in family and consumer science classes at Deer Park’s Robert Frost Middle School recently showed their compassion by making 25 dozen cookies for The Mercy INN soup kitchen in Wyandanch, using their baking techniques and culinary abilities to provide community service.
“Our students have been taught the importance of caring, sharing and being empathetic to others to have a positive impact on their community,” said Cindy Adriaenssens, who guided the activity with fellow FACS teacher Paula Behrens.
